Design
The Schenker
Exterior Facade Awning is the latest
design with state-of-the-art technology.
It is designed to shade large glazed
areas, is fully retractable and
able to travel in any direction,
straight down, horizontally or
over sloped glazing then curve
around vertically.
There are no visible cables or
straps. The stainless steel cables
are housed in the guides.
One motor only is required to operate
this awning.
Unique
What
makes this system unique is the
patented tension design, the so
called "power pack" which
is built in the bottom rail. A
continuous and even tautness of
the fabric is achieved by two gas
compression springs.
Unlike conventional systems, the
steel cables do not slide in the
guides but are fixed at the bottom
end of the side guides and are
extended inside these extrusions
as the bottom rail retracts. The
cables are no longer subject to
wear and tear. Wind pressure exerted
on the fabric is absorbed by the
gas compression springs.

technical approval by the manufacturer.
FABRIC
TENSION SYSTEM (FTS)
Suitability
For large
glazed areas with flat surfaces
installed under the glass (internally)
or over the glass (externally).
Function
The system
consists of a motorised fabric
roller on one side and a motorised
strap roller on the opposite side
which pulls the fabric across (mostly
horizontally). The two Somfy electric
motors are electronically operated
by a Somfy Control Unit.
Fabric
We recommend
100% acrylic fabric of first class
quality which is available in many
plain colours.
Ideal
The most
successful installations have been
underneath the glazing by trapping
the hot air between the glass and
the fabric. In such situations,
the fabric always
remains clean and
the system is well protected, extending
the life of motors, componentry
and fabrics.
